I was strolling through the pits at the opening round of Monster Energy Supercross and ran into these two likable Supercross journeymen. I really enjoyed talking with them, these talented racers are the lifeblood of the sport. Even though both racers barely missed the 40-rider field, don’t mistake their talent, they can destroy pretty much any local pro on earth. I asked them about the pay scale and how it compares with other sports, but they were quick to tow the party line and be thankful for what they do have. On the other hand, I still wonder why Justin Barcia only wins 12k for winning the 450 Main event. Tickets cost approximately $60 a piece and the sold-out stadium holds 45k. With sponsor money, entry fees, broadcast rights and ticket sales they need to find more money for the competitors.
Anyway that’s enough of a rant, take a listen to the interview with these two die hard professional Supercross racers.
